Located in Mascot, ATL is a popular restaurant amongst Indonesian citizens in Australia. Their no-frills old-school establishment can seat up to 30 people, with a major focus on – you’ve guessed it – Chicken! Their menu is populated with numerous variety of Chicken Dishes, as well as several other original Indonesian Dishes such as Gado Gado, Sop Buntut (Oxtail Soup), Beef Rendang and Sayur Asem.
There are 6 main Chicken Dishes on their menu. All of them have received their signature tenderized soft-bone treatment, where the corn-fed chicken quarters are pressure-cooked overnight before being deep-fried the next day before serving.
First and foremost is the original Ayam Goreng Tulang Lunak (Fried Soft Bone Chicken). This chicken dish combines the crunchy and flavorful batter with juicy, tender meat which you can eat all to the bones. The dish comes with a piece of fried tempeh (soybean cake) on top, and a side of sambal which packs some serious heat.
Another crowd favorite is the Ayam Goreng Telur Asin (Fried Chicken with Salty Egg Sauce), where the deep fried chicken is paired with a dollop of salty egg sauce. There are also options with generous toppings of hot or mild chilli sauce, as well as a grilled variety which comes slathered in spicy/sweet kecap manis–Ayam Bakar (Grilled Chicken).
